Lesson 5 of 15
Folder Shortcuts
In this lesson
Roy opens the directory shortcuts menu with Ctrl-D, adds the current directory to it under a name, and marks one letter of the name so that pressing that letter in the menu goes straight to the folder. When a shortcut also saves the target directory, choosing it switches the other pane as well, so the two directories work as a couple.

[00:02] (external link, opens in new tab) One last thing I forgot to actually tell you about is directory shortcuts. If I press Ctrl D, you see that I have this interesting menu. If I press configure, these are the directory shortcuts I have. I'm going to delete the items so you can see what I'm talking about. Let's say I always want to get go to the I'm going to press tab here and go to the moved folder on the left. If I always want to get back to it, I can put a shortcut to it. add current directory and I can call it moved or whatever I want.
[00:33] (external link, opens in new tab) And if I want it to be keyboard friendly, I can even put an amp% in one of the letters. Let's say under O. So it looks like this. M% O. And so this way I can always get back to it. If I press backspace multiple times and press Ctrl D, I have this. I can just press O and I'll get to this directory. Now, here's another cool thing. I can remove the current directory. Let's say that. And I'm going to add it again.
[01:05] (external link, opens in new tab) But when it's when it's added, I can also save the target directory. The target directory will be saved. That means that whenever I go to this directory, the other pane will be moved switched to the directory that's currently active in it. So that now these directories work as a couple. I'll go back in both of them. We'll go to D, control D, go to moved. And you'll see that now the other tab has been switched automatically.
[01:37] (external link, opens in new tab) So directory shortcuts are a very powerful feature in Total Commander. You can change the title or whatever you want.
